I Have Used All The Tomato Gifts!

I had 10 tomatoes left after making gazpacho. If you like gazpacho, let me know. I’ll post that recipe too. Back to my point, 10 tomatoes and a crockpot for my birthday. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Watch as four dozen cookies vanish in thin air. If you are taking them somewhere, you might want to make a double batch.  If you are keeping them at home, you won’t have to feel guilty because everyone else will eat them so fast, you won’t be able to eat too many.  My secret trick to melt-in-your-mouth cookies is to cream all the wet ingredients one at a time and thoroughly mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl before incorporating into the wet. Comfort Food For Rainy Days!

As the residual hurricane weather sweeps through our town today, we gather around our soup bowls for comfort while sending our well wishes to all those affected by the recent storms.  The tomatoes with green chiles warm up this dish,  and the chicken offers a nice change from the usual ham & bean soup.  Served up with cornbread, this is the perfect rainy day pick-me-up.  Try to save some for lunch the next day…

No lipstick on this pig.

I have to say, politics doesn’t often inspire me to cook, but the whole lipstick on a pig remark got me thinking about pork. This prime rib of pork atop a bed of greens with oranges, cranberries, chow mein noodles & sesame ginger dressing was a wonderful combination of textures and flavors that had the family raving. I actually served the salad on the side for most of the family, and served them some toasted french bread slices with warm brie. I know I always say this, but this is so easy. I actually felt like I was cheating….
