Easy Batter Rolls

3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. warm water
2 pkgs rapid rise yeast
1 egg
3-1/2 c. flour

In a small saucepan, scald milk (that’s just before boiling point). Turn off burner and stir in sugar, salt and butter. Remove completely from heat and let cool to lukewarm. Pour warm water in a large bowl and stir in yeast to dissolve. Add lukewarm milk mixture to yeast mixture. Stir in egg, then flour, one cup at a time until batter forms. Let rise 30 minutes. Spoon into muffin tin (makes12) and rise again. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes (depending on oven).
