Michael & Micki

I’m Micki Harlow.  An average person, not the 2.5 kids kind of average.  We have 8, and when everyone’s around, it’s like cooking Thanksgiving dinner every night.  We have a toddler, an elementary school kid, four in high school, and two college aged kids.  It goes unsaid that I run around a lot with kid activities.  But I also work.  And cook. A lot. I think the most common phrase around my house is “what are we eating?”  Sometimes my pantry is practically bare, and my husband demands that I go to the store, but I can still eke out one more meal, even if I have to substitute.  I have a four burner induction cooktop, not a professional kitchen.  My recipes don’t take too much effort, but manage to impress clients, friends and family alike.  If you don’t cook, I promise you: it’s not hard.  Set yourself up with some decent tools (nothing professional needed), and give my recipes a try.  Let me know how you’re doing.  I’d love to hear from you.

About My Blog

My inspiration: I have a lot of friends who ask what I’m cooking that day, and then say, “That’s sounds good.  How do you make it?”  It amazes me how many people don’t know how or just don’t cook.   If I can cook, anyone can.  If I have time to cook, anyone does.  My meals are generally quick and, as a general rule, are made from ingredients anyone would have on hand.  For my friends who don’t have the tools yet,  I have even included links to the cooking products that I use.

Posts: I have made all the food you see.  I cook the food, take a picture, and post the recipe here. Some posts are just for conversation.  They are in the what’s up category.

Categories: Use the categories in the sidebar to separate out what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and scroll through to find something that sounds good.  If you have a certain ingredient you want to see in a recipe, use the search box in the right hand column.  (i.e. “eggs” would pull all recipes that have eggs in them).

Pages: The pages are listed at the side and as tabs at the top.

Pantry: I only divided the categories by meal because you should have most all the ingredients listed, or have something to substitute.  Off the cuff cooking.  Want a list of common ingredients/spices you should always have on hand?  Go to my pantry.

Contact: If you have a favorite recipe or product to share, or you just want to talk, use the contact form on the Contact page.  I will respond as quickly as possible.
